Pimp your ride
Most people don’t know how much you can customise a forklift. Quite a lot, as it turns out. Here’s a rundown of what’s possible.
Comfort
If your operator is in a machine for eight hours a day, comfort matters. Working on a wharf in Nelson in winter? Cold store in Hamilton? You can specify a fully enclosed cab with air conditioning, heating, and a stereo. These aren’t luxuries, they’re practical.
Safety
For corporate fleet customers, safety features are increasingly non-negotiable. Options include halo lighting, a blue light that projects onto the floor to warn pedestrians of an approaching forklift, AI safety cameras, pedestrian warning systems, and speed limiters. A health and safety manager will often have a list before the fleet manager has finished talking.
Attachments and handling
Fork positioners for handling different-sized loads, onboard scales to weigh pallets at the point of pick, side shift, rotators, and clamps. The right attachment can save significant time and labour depending on what you’re moving.
Engine and component specification
If you’re adding to an existing fleet, we can specify new machines to match your current engine brand for parts compatibility. Fewer part numbers, simpler maintenance.
Colour
You don’t always have to stick with standard stock colours. You can customise those too. Ask us about Mainfreight’s gold one.
Before you spec up
Not every customisation makes sense for every operation. A one-person engineering workshop doesn’t need halo lighting. A logistics company running 30 machines in a busy warehouse probably does. Give us a call on 0800 367 544 and we’ll help you work out what’s worth having.
