Where was your forklift made?

It’s a fair question. And the answer is more nuanced than you might expect.

The short answer

Country of origin is a less reliable guide to quality than it used to be. Most major forklift brands, including well-known German and Japanese names, now manufacture in multiple countries and source components globally. Some Jungheinrich models are produced outside Germany. Toyota, one of the most trusted names in the industry, has manufacturing facilities across Asia.

What matters more than where a forklift was built is the specification of its key components, the quality controls applied during manufacture, and the warranty and service support behind it.

Quality is in the specifications

The UN Forklifts we carry are manufactured in China, specified with Japanese engines and hydraulic components. We know which parts matter most for reliability and longevity, and we specify accordingly. With over 400 units in service across New Zealand, the track record speaks for itself.

The brands we carry

Our range includes brands from across the globe. Each has strengths depending on the application and budget. We recommend based on what’s right for your operation, not where something was made.
